Family Foundation

After the massive tax hike in 2004 and the subseqent and calculated effort by some in our General Assembly to defeat nearly every pro-God, pro-life and pro-family initiative, it seemed high time that our elected officials were held responsible for their actions.  To expose the voting records of elected officials and equip Virginians to make informed choices, The Family Foundation announced the formation of The Family Foundation Action (TFF Action), a legally separate,  non-tax deductible organization. Through this organization, pro-family citizens can rest assured that our advocacy efforts will reach a whole new level.

In the early 1990s, Governor Mark Warner, then head of the Democratic Party of Virginia, filed an injunction to stop the distribution of The Family Foundation’s voter guides.  We won then and we’ll continue to win the fight to inform citizens where candidates stand before critical elections.

However, recently enacted campaign finance laws and a new arm of the IRS, created to investigate the political activities of groups like The Family Foundation have prompted many non-profit groups to create new, more flexible non-tax deductible organizations to meet the demands of today’s political environment. The Family Foundation’s parent organization Focus on the Family created Focus on the Family Action for the same purposes at the national level.  Because gifts to The Family Foundation are tax deductible, the IRS severely limits the actions that organization can take in the political arena.   As we all know, freedom of speech isn’t so free! However, TFF Action allows us to have much greater flexibility to express our views to the public square, where the great debate over culture, rights, freedom and values is taking place.

The Family Foundation Action's most widely sought after product is the biannual General Assembly Report Card.  This important document reveals the actual voting record of every member of the Virginia General Assembly on issues related to the family.  The Family Foundation Action also produces candidate voter guides to better equip citizens as they decide which politicians better represent our values.
